16 Man Utd players who will play at the World Cup and 15 who won’t, with images

We have the definitive run-through of every Manchester United player who will be at the World Cup.

Manchester United will have more players at the World Cup than almost every club in world football.

The Red Devils have 16 players heading to Qatar, including two who are currently out on loan with other clubs (Alex Telles and Hannibal). It’s a number only one club can beat, with Bayern Munich set to send 17 players to the tournament, while Manchester City, Barcelona and Al-Sadd equal United’s tally of 16.

Players from Erik ten Hag’s squad will represent nine countries across three continents (England, France, Brazil, Portugal, Tunisia, Uruguay, Denmark, Netherlands and Argentina), meaning there is a high chance that the club will boast another World Cup winner in December, something they already have in defender Raphael Varane.

But while 16 players will head off to Qatar, there are 15 senior stars who won’t be involved in football’s greatest spectacle due to a form, injury and their nation failing to qualify. Ten Hag may secretly be pleased to have such a high number when training returns next month, ahead of a bust festive and new year period.

The Red Devils face Burnley in the EFL Cup on 21 December, just three days after the World Cup final, although players eliminated early will obviously return before then. United’s next Premier League game doesn’t come until 27 December, when they host Nottingham Forest.

But ahead of the tournament kicking off in Qatar on Sunday, we have put together the definitive list of which United players will, and will not, play at the World Cup…
