Manchester United have reportedly entered the race to sign Leeds United winger Raphinha in the January transfer window.

The 25-year old has been linked with Liverpool for some time, while Chelsea have also be rumoured as showing interest, but it looks like the Red Devils are also keen on the Brazilian international.

Although Leeds could be open to the prospect of selling their star man it seems likely that any suitors might have to pay over the odds in order to have a bid accepted by the Elland Road club.

Here’s everything we know so far about interest in Raphinha going into the transfer window:

Will Raphinha sign for Manchester United in January?

Reports on Thursday suggest United are the latest club to enter the race to sign Raphinha from Leeds.

However, they would face competition from Premier League rivals Liverpool while Chelsea and Bayern Munich have also been linked with the Brazilian.

United have been linked with a number of players and already have decent depth in their wide attacking options so may prioritise other deals if signing Raphinha proves to be a long and expensive process.

How likely is Raphinha to leave Leeds United in January?

Although Leeds have openly admitted that they will have to consider players sales in order to follow a similar model to Leicester City, they are doing their best to keep hold of Raphinha.

As reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, the Brazilian’s contract is due to run out in June 2024 and talks are ongoing over an improved deal at Elland Road.

Leeds signed the winger from Rennes in October 2020 for £17 million and would probably look for more than double that amount to let him leave next month.

The 25-year old is thought to be valued somewhere in the £34 million region but, with the Whites currently fighting a relegation battle in the Premier League, they may have even less desire to sell their star man and other reports have suggested that fee could rise as high as £60 million.

SkyBet currently have Bayern Munich as favourites to sign the Brazilian at 2/1 while Liverpool are second favourites at 7/1 and Manchester United are out at 20/1.

Those odds suggest that the most likely outcome will see the 25-year old remain at Elland Road and if he were to leave then United is far from the most likely destination.

Manchester United reject loan off from Sevilla for Anthony Martial

Anthony Martial’s move to Sevilla could be off after the club rejected a loan offer from the Spanish side who have admitted they have little room in their budget to improve the offer.

Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick said they would allow the Frenchman to leave after talks were held but only if the deal was right for the club.

Martial has no shortage of rumoured interest, so a departure from Old Trafford next month still looks possible and could very well open up a gap in the squad for the club to bring in a player like Raphinha.
