Nottingham Forest ace Djed Spence has been touted for a big move to Manchester City by his teammate - thanks to a cheeky punt by a fellow player.

The 21-year-old was mightily impressive during his side’s shock 4-1 hammering of Leicester City in the FA Cup on Sunday, notching a goal of his own in the 61st minute.

This is how the young defender reacted to the result on social media by vowing to ‘paint the town red’:

But Lyle Taylor, who has played alongside him at Forest, had other ideas…

Taylor, a frontman currently on loan at Birmingham City, was impressed by Spence’s performance and tipped him for a move to Pep Guardiola’s City, which has sparked a lot of reaction from fans.

“Not even Agent Lyle can save this deal now…next stop Man City,” the striker replied jokingly on his Instagram.

Spence is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest from his parent club Middlesbrough and has previously won EFL Young Player of the Month.

Born in London, the young full-back first emerged through Fulham’s academy before he was picked up by Boro in 2018.

Known for having on-the-ball ability well beyond his years, Spence has turned heads at the City Ground and has become an important player for the play-off hopefuls.

Praise that has led to a number of the biggest clubs in the country monitoring him closely, with reports suggesting that Arsenal were close to submitting a bid for the 21-year-old in the winter transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur also reportedly hold a firm interest in acquiring his services, with Conte growing increasingly unsure over the fullback options at the club.

The Northern Echo has said that Middlesbrough value Djed Spence at between £12-15m.
