The Champions League Round of 16 draw has now been completed, and we now know who Manchester City will face.

Pep Guardiola’s side progressed through their Champions League group with relative ease, finishing five points clear of Borussia Dortmund in second and nine points ahead of Sevilla in third. City will be hungry to win the Champions League this season, having fallen short over recent years.

Europe’s biggest prize remains a priority for City, but they are far from the only side eyeing gold, and it will be as tough as ever to come out on top this season.

With the group stage now completed, the Round of 16 draw has been made, and we now know that City will face Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig in the first knock-out round. City will play in Germany for the first leg and at the Etihad Stadium for the second. The first legs are set for 14/15 February or 21/22 February, with the second legs taking place on 7/8 March or 14/15 March.

Leipzig were impressive in their group, finishing second behind Real Madrid and picking up just one less point than the reigning champions. Leipzig defeated Real Madrid 3-2 at home recently, but they lost 2-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu.

In the Bundesliga, Leipzig are currently in sixth place, but they are just six points behind leaders Bayern Munich and three points off the top four. Among the Germans’ danger men are Timo Werner, Christian Nkunku, Andre Silva, Emil Forsberg and Dominik Szoboszlai.

City and Leipzig shared a group in last season’s Champions League, and Guardiola’s men came out on top in only one of those meetings. City lost 2-1 away from home, but they did win convincingly at home, defeating the Bundesliga club 6-3 at the Etihad Stadium. Interestinly, City had a red card in their defeat, and Leipzig had a man sent off in theirs.
