The fixtures for the upcoming 2022-23 Premier League season have been released with Manchester City and Manchester United discovering who they will face on the opening day.
Pep Guardiola’s side have a tough trip to the London Stadium to take on West Ham United on August 7. The Hammers finished seventh in the table last campaign and were semi-finalist in the Europa League.
City will be looking to win their third consecutive title - something only their cross-town rivals the Red Devils have achieved.
United will welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to Old Trafford on August 7 in Erik ten Hag’s first official game in charge of the club.
The Sky Blues have been busy in the transfer market already with the signing of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, while the Red Devils are yet to sign a player.
It’s looking likely that Guardiola will also be looking to replace the departing Fernandinho whose contract at the Etihad Stadium expires on June 30.
United on the other hand have a huge summer window ahead of them. Ten Hag will need to add to his squad after the club confirmed Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Edinson Cavani and Nemanja Matic won’t be part of the Dutchman’s plans next season.
