Manchester City were denied a big three points at the weekend.

Manchester City were left stunned on Sunday when Tottenham Hotspur held them to a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Etihad Stadium. It was the ideal match for neutrals, but Pep Guardiola and his side will certainly be disappointed after losing grip on second place.

It was an evening full of action for both sides but despite the reigning champions' best efforts, it wasn't enough for them to break their run of draws. City's tie against Spurs marked their third consecutive Premier League stalemate, following their 4-4 result against Chelsea and the 1-1 draw at home to Liverpool. There's still a long way to go until the end of the season and right now, only three points separate City and league leaders Arsenal. The title race is all to play for and the Citizens have overturned bigger deficits, but there is still the lingering disappointment from settling for yet another draw.

Tottenham's opener came through Son Heung-min just moments after the first whistle, but City cancelled it out in the first half thanks to an own goal and a close-range Phil Foden finish. City were in control in the 81st minute after Jack Grealish struck to better Giovani Lo Celso's equaliser. However, a header from Dejan Kulusevski unravelled City's efforts and split the spoils. Bernardo Silva weighed in on his side's result after the match and admitted it felt "very frustrating" not to come away with all three points.

"As a team, we need to see what we need to do better and then each one of us demand more individually," he told the club's website.

"In the first half, I thought we were brilliant in the way we played and pressed, but then we need to score the goals. In the last minutes, we were able to score a goal to win the game but then we need to defend better as a team."

City's next challenge will be Aston Villa away from home. Unai Emery's side are currently fourth in the table, just one point behind the reigning champions. City will be without Rodri and Jack Grealish for that game after the duo picked up their fifth yellow cards of the season to be hit with one-match suspensions.
