Ederson has signed a new contract with Manchester City, which will run through to 2026.

The goalkeeper, who has established himself as one of the most reliable stoppers in the league, told the club’s official website he had no doubts about extending his stay at the Etihad.

“This was an easy decision for me,” he said. “There is nowhere else I’d want to be.

“To be part of one of the best squads in world football and to compete for trophies year in year out is what every footballer wants, and that is the opportunity you’re given at City.

“We have an outstanding manager. Working with him has been one of the great experiences of my career and I am a better player for it.

“We have achieved so much in the last four years, and I am confident we can continue to bring more success to the Club in the coming seasons.”

The Brazilian arrived at City in 2017 and has played 195 games games in that time, keeping 94 clean sheets. He’s also won the Premier League title on three occasions and, remarkably, the League Cup in all of his four seasons in England, as well as one FA Cup in 2019.

Ederson has also excelled on an individual basis and has collected the Premier League Golden Glove Award in each of the last two seasons.

While the club’s recruitment was slow this summer, City have secured the long-term futures of five key players, Kevin De Bruyne, Fernandinho, John Stones, Ruben Dias and now Ederson.
