The staggering wealth of Chelsea’s new owners - compared to Man City, Newcastle United, Liverpool & others

Chelsea’s proposed new owners’ reported wealth - compared to Manchester City and the rest of the Premier League.

The ownership of Chelsea is set to change in the coming weeks - bringing an end to Roman Abramovich’s 19-year tenure at the club.

Abramovich put the Blues up for sale after the UK government froze his assets due to his close links with Russian president Vladimir Putin in consideration of the war in Ukraine.

Several interested parties have been in discussions to purchase the West London outfit, with American billionaire Todd Boehly, who is also co-owner of baseball team LA Dodgers, winning the race.

Boehly has reportedly had a £4.25bn bid accepted for Chelsea and will look to complete the takeover at the earliest convenience, subject to completion via the Premier League owners’ and directors’ test.

A statement released by the Blues on Saturday read: “Chelsea Football Club can confirm that terms have been agreed for a new ownership group, led by Todd Boehly, Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter and Hansjoerg Wyss, to acquire the Club.

“Of the total investment being made, £2.5bn will be applied to purchase the shares in the Club and such proceeds will be deposited into a frozen UK bank account with the intention to donate 100% to charitable causes as confirmed by Roman Abramovich. UK Government approval will be required for the proceeds to be transferred from the frozen UK bank account.

“In addition, the proposed new owners will commit £1.75bn in further investment for the benefit of the Club. This includes investments in Stamford Bridge, the Academy, the Women’s Team and Kingsmeadow and continued funding for the Chelsea Foundation.“The sale is expected to complete in late May subject to all necessary regulatory approvals. More details will be provided at that time.”

Manchester City are owned by City Football Group Limited, with the Abu Dhabi United Group the majority share holders with a 75.1 percent share in the holding company.

With that being said, ManchesterWorld takes a look at how Boehly & Co’s rumoured wealth will impact the Premier League owners’ rich list when completed.
