Supercomputer predicts where Manchester United and Manchester City will finish in 2021/22 Premier League table

With the start of the Premier League campaign fast approaching, both United and City will be hoping for successful seasons – and by that, we mean winning the title!

The battle of the two Manchester clubs was won by the blue half of the city last season, as Pep Guardiola’s men reclaimed their crown from Liverpool.

It was a third title in four seasons after a stunning second half of the campaign saw City romp to the championship.

United turned out to be their nearest challengers, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side finshing second, although ultimately the gap was 12 points.

It still represented an improvement for the Old Trafford outfit, and they will be looking to go one better this term.

Solskjaer & Co have spent big already this summer in a bid to reduce the gap, with Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane joining the Red Devils, but City have splashed the cash themselves, breaking the British transfer record on £100m man Jack Grealish – and they could do it again if their pursuit of Harry Kane is successful.

Will it be enough to keep them ahead of the pack? Or do they need Kane's arrival to secure the title, especially after slipping up in the Champions League final against Chelsea, who will be hard on their heels again.

The boffins have ran the numbers by looking at each Premier League club’s most realistic outcome this term and the odds of them achieving it – and in doing so, have compiled a complete table predicting the final standings of the top flight.
