Manchester City kick off their Champions League campaign on Tuesday night as they take on La Liga side Sevilla away at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.

Last season City were knocked out in the semi-finals by eventual champions Real Madrid in an action-packed 6-5 aggregate defeat. This year, they will no doubt use this near miss as added motivation for their ultimate goal of European glory.

The Citzens will be eager to start the group stages strongly, just as they have in English competition. After six Premier League matches, Pep Guardiola’s side are unbeaten and have scored a division-high of 20 goals.

Having netted 10 of these alone, summer signing Erling Haaland has made a huge impression. Only four teams have managed to score more than the Norwegian.

City and Haaland will be licking their lips as they prepare to face Sevilla. The Spanish side have really struggled in La Liga this season, as they sit narrowly above the relegation zone on goal difference with a draw and three defeats.

It’s been a disappointing start for the Rojiblancos who finished in the top four last term, just three points behind runners-up Barcelona.
