Roy Keane has named Manchester City’s biggest obstacle to winning the treble, and it is not Premier League title rivals Arsenal.

City progressed to the final of the FA Cup on Saturday evening with a comfortable win over Sheffield United at Wembley Stadium. Riyad Mahrez scored a hat-trick to send Pep Guardiola’s men through, and it means the treble is still on for them, still in the Premier League title race, while they have also reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Crucially, City are now in their best form of the season, and they are a force to be feared as they look to retain the Premier League and win their first ever Champions League title.

Manchester United legend Keane believes City are favourites to win the Premier League and the FA Cup, but he has pin-pointed Real Madrid as the Citizens’ biggest hurdle to winning the treble.

Asked if it would annoy him if City won the treble, Keane said with a chuckle on ITV Sport: “Yep.”

He added: “No, I don’t begrudge teams success. I look at teams, and I know how hard it is to win trophies, so I look at teams and if City go on to win it, then honestly, I would say ‘well done’. We know how hard it is, and they have hurdles to get over, particularly Real Madrid, but they are red-hot favourites for the FA Cup, and of course the league, but I think Real Madrid is the top one, for me.”

Asked to confirm if he thought City were favourites to overcome Arsenal in the Premier League title race, Keane said: “Very much so. The big problem is getting over Real Madrid.”
