Of course, he is not the first big-money striker to arrive in the Premier League with plenty of hype, but there has rarely been higher expectations for a young signing in the English top flight.
Haaland made his competitive debut for City in Saturday’s Community Shield against Liverpool, and then it is full steam ahead for the start of the Premier League, when the champions begin away to West Ham United next weekend.
The Community Shield may be viewed as a friendly - albeit a more competitive one - by most, but fans were thrilled to see Haaland don a City shirt for the first time in a competitive game.

He responded with a firm prediction, saying: “Brilliant, brillaint player. He is obviously only 22, and he has not peaked yet. He is in a brilliant team now, brilliant manager.
“You can’t imagine he doesn’t score 20-odd goals [this season], you just can’t imagine it if he stays fit. What a signing. Martin [Keown] used the word ‘exciting’, and that’s exactly what this young kid is. I’m looking forward to watching him over the next few months.”
