Now, City and Los Blancos both played on Saturday, so the time between the fixtures is not all that different, albeit Carlo Ancelotti’s men played some six hours later on Saturday.

But Real Madrid were in final action on Saturday, travelling down to Sevilla for their Copa del Rey final win over Osasuna. Ancelotti’s men were ahead within two minutes, with Vinicius Jr pulling off a fine assist to set up Rodrygo, and the latter scored again after an Osasuna equaliser to secure the win.

Real Madrid have the tough task of picking themselves up after the final, travelling back to Madrid and getting enough rest and preparation in before Tuesday night’s big first leg. Fortunately for Los Blancos, their star man Vinicius Jr has a special trick up his sleeve, employing a system used by the likes of LeBron James and Rafael Nadal.

On Sunday, the Brazilian posted a picture of himself inside a hyperbaric oxygen chamber, adding the caption: “We are already thinking of Tuesday.” The chamber is designed to increase the flow of oxygen in the blood, speeding up recovery time between exercise. Recovery time can increase by up to 22 times the amount of normal, while it can also help speed up recovery from certain injuries.

The winger has scored 22 goals and assisted 21 so far
