Real Madrid 'want' to complete deal to land 'world-class' Man City player to play alongside Kylian Mbappe

Real Madrid are said to be eyeing one of Manchester City's standout stars as they prepare for a big summer.

Real Madrid could be entering a new Galacticos era, and they reportedly plan to add a Manchester City player to their growing list of superstars. Los Blancos are already benefitting from the magic of Jude Bellingham this season after landing the England star last summer.

And as they edge towards the La Liga title, they are intent on bolstering their already strong squad. Kylian Mbappe is reportedly set to join on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, with his contract up at the end of the season. The Frenchman is a self-confessed Real Madrid fan, and he was reportedly close to joining Madrid two years ago before PSG handed him an eye-watering contract.

This summer looks set to be very different, with Mbappe likely to board a one-way flight to the Spanish capital, and there are reports in Spain claiming a City star could do the same. According to Defensa Central, Real Madrid are working to sign City superstar Phil Foden, who has been one of the Premier League's best players this season.

The report claims that Los Blancos chief scout Juni Calafat is pushing for a deal to land the England star, who would have the chance to work with England teammate Bellingham, as well as potentially Mbappe, who has a lure of his own. With Foden under contract until 2027, City would likely demand a huge fee to sell, likely well over £100million.

Though, wages aside, the fact Mbappe would be joining for free would give Real Madrid a little flexibility in terms of what they can spend this summer. City will be desperate to keep Foden, though, as made clear by Pep Guardiola's recent comments about the 23-year-old.

"I always had the feeling he would score goals and now he is winning games. To become a world class-player at that age you have to win games," said Guardiola after Foden's performance in the Manchester derby over the weekend. "He lives to play football. That's why with 18, 19 years old he proved things but now he's more mature. He always scored goals but now scores goals that win games and when you do this, you reach another level as a player."
