Manchester City have lost their last two games in all competitions. They were beaten 1-0 away at Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup last Wednesday.

Pep Guardiola’s side were then defeated 2-1 by Wolves at Molineux in the Premier League last time out. The treble winners will be looking to return to their normal selves against RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

In terms of selection news, City will remain without winger Bernardo Silva. The Portugal international is still recovering from a knock.

Guardiola is hoping to have John Stones back for their trip to Leipzig though. He has returned to training and will be pushing to play, although the club won’t want to take any risks with him.

Kevin de Bruyne remains sidelined with a hamstring injury. Guardiola had this to say last time he spoke about the attacking midfielder: “It’s a serious injury. He will be out for a few months. The injury is a blow, a big loss. He has specific qualities. For a long time is really tough for us. We have to look forward. We have alternatives. Kevin is irreplaceable, but we have talented players. They will take it.”

As for Leipzig, they have a few players in the treatment room right now. They are slightly short of defensive options.

El Chadaille Bitshiabu, who moved to the Bundesliga outfit from PSG in the last transfer window, has been out since August with damage to his Medial Collateral Ligament on his knee and isn’t expected back this month.

Fellow centre-back Willi Orban is also unavailable with torn knee ligament which isn’t ideal. Marco Rose is also sweating over the fitness of attacking pair Dani Olmo and Timo Werner.

The pair both sat out of their most recent fixture against Bayern Munich. They drew 2-2 with the German champions as they prepare to lock horns with City.

Out: Silva, De Bruyne, Bitshiabu, Orban

Doubts: Olmo, Werner
