The latest Manchester City news.

A date has finally been set for when Manchester City will defend themselves against 115 charges of alleged breaches of financial regulations, it is reported.

The Daily Mail claim a date has been set for late next year. The European champions were charged with 115 counts of alleged breaches of financial regulations in February, with the case still not close to being resolved after nine months.

While City deny the charges against them, Everton fans feel they have been unfairly punished in comparison after they were handed a 10-point deduction earlier this month.

The Toffees were served with the points deduction after an independent commission determined the club had flouted rules related to profitability and sustainability. An aggrieved Everton said in a statement that they will ‘monitor with great interest the decisions made in any other cases concerning the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules’, an obvious reference to City’s ongoing charges.

And now it has been revealed a date has been set. The Daily Mail report: "Mail Sport understands that the Premier League and Manchester City have agreed a date at which they will face off in front of an independent panel in arguably the biggest hearing in the competition's history."

They add: "Throughout a long-running saga the competition and the club have remained tight-lipped – and both declined to comment when contacted.  However, it can be revealed that a date for the showdown has been initially scheduled for the late autumn of 2024."

What has Pep Guardiola said about the charges and Everton's 10-point deduction?

"It's two different cases. It's not the same - honestly," he said last week. "I spoke with my people - [they] said it is completely different.

"OK - [our] one is longer because it is more complicated because it's 115 breaches. So wait.

"Then the lawyers from both sides present their cases in front of the judge and [we receive] the verdict."
