Predicted Premier League table 2022-23: How Man City & Liverpool fare - but controversial one for Man Utd

The Premier League returns this weekend as Manchester City travel to West Ham United, while cross-town rivals Manchester United welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to Old Trafford.

Manchester City endured a short pre-season ahead of the new Premier League campaign. The Sky Blues played just three matches, including their 3-1 Community Shield Final defeat to Liverpool.

Pep Guardiola has made several changes to his squad during the transfer window, including the signing of prolific goalscorer Erling Haaland, while first team stars such as Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and Fernandinho have departed.

City begin their league campaign with a trip to the London Stadium on Sunday to take on against West Ham United, with the Sky Blues hoping to begin their title defence with three points.

Manchester United will also be looking to begin their season with a bang under new boss Erik ten Hag.

The Red Devils lost just one of their six pre-season fixtures, while beating rivals Liverpool 4-0 in Thailand.

United have made three signings so far this summer and could be set to begin the new campaign with a new-look starting XI.

Ten Hag’s men will welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to Old Trafford on Sunday, with the club hoping to have a significantly better campaign compared to last season.
