Pep Guardiola has warned Manchester City that their Champions League tie against Bayern Munich is not over despite the Blues’ 3-0 lead at the halfway point.

An excellent display from City at the Etihad means they are overwhelming favourites to make it to the last four of the competition. Goals from Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland wrapped things up on the night, while Guardiola’s side put in a superb defensive showing.

But Guardiola feels that with Bayern’s quality in the attacking areas that his former club are capable of turning things around next week. “If we don’t do our game anything can happen. Another game I would tell you no,” the City manager said after the match.

“The most important thing was the players on the pitch and I think off the pitch we see the performance from Bayern Munich. We don’t need to tell them the warnings. I know what is going to happen - [they are] really good. Bayern Munich have been outstanding but we have 95 minutes and I have been there many times many times.

“Three years there and I know in Europe this team especially, You have to be a really good performance. To knock out these teams you have to have two good games, not just one.”

Despite the professional display from City, Guardiola felt it was a tough encounter for his side and he jokingly claimed he’d aged 10 years over the 90 minutes.

“It was not comfortable. Emotionally I am destroyed. I have [aged] 10 more years today,” he said. “It was so demanding and now I have to relax, day off and then Leicester and travel again.

“I know what we have to do. If you don’t perform they are able to score one, two, three. I know that and the players know it. It was an incredible result but we do our game with huge personality.

“Here we have our chances, especially this season and we are clinical. It’s the same in Munich. I have been there for three years and I remember what it means and the people. We are going there to score goals and to try and win the game.”
