Gallery: Pep Guardiola’s 1000 Man City goals - which players have scored the most?

The Manchester City manager is just the third person to achieve the feat in Premier League history.

Phil Foden’s injury-time goal against West Ham United capped off a memorable night for Manchester City on Wednesday, and it was also the 1000th that has been netted in all competitions under Pep Guardiola’s watch.

It was a special occasion as the champions won 3-0 at the Etihad, a victory that saw them return to the league summit and Erling Haaland set a new record high of 35 goals in an individual Premier League campaign. But Foden’s strike in the latter stages was the cherry on top of the cake for the Blues.

Reaching 1000 goals is an achievement only three managers have managed in the Premier League era, along with the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger. However, Guardiola has reached the four-digit mark in just 404 matches, 150 fewer than Wenger and a remarkable 197 games quicker than Ferguson at Manchester United.

Foden’s goal was the 139th of the season so far and Guardiola’s sides have made a habit of netting 100+ during his time in Manchester. In fact, in all seven seasons at the Etihad, the Catalan has seen his team get over a 100, with the highest-scoring campaign coming in 2018/19 as City netted 169.

Asked about the 1000 goals after the game, the City boss gave a wry response claimed he didn’t get a guard of honour like Haaland on Wednesday. “Unfortunately I didn’t score once,” he said. “It is a lot of goals, the goal at the end is a moment of joy. I didn’t have the guard of honour today but maybe next time.”

But which City players have contributed the most to Guardiola’s 1000 goals? We’ve had a look back over the years and compiled the top 10 scorers over the last seven years.
