Manchester City will be without four players for the Champions League clash against Sparta Prague.

Pep Guardiola has revealed he is unsure when Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker will return following recent injuries.

The Manchester City boss had previously confirmed both players would not be back in time for the midweek Champions League meeting against Sparta Prague, and while both are training, Guardiola said does not know when they will be available for selection again.

De Bruyne has not played since 18 September when he was replaced at half-time after sustaining a knock against Inter Milan, and Guardiola initially claimed it would not be a long-term injury. However, his run of absent games will now stretch into seven matches.

Asked on Tuesday when he expects De Bruyne to return, Guardiola replied: “I couldn’t not tell you.” He also confirmed it could be ‘some time away’.

“It's not a big issue but he doesn't feel completely fine and Kevin is not 22 years old any more,” he added. “He has to be fit completely for his football. If he doesn't feel comfortable, he cannot express his potential. That's why he doesn't feel. He still doesn't feel good so take your time. He has to be [100% ready].”

Meanwhile, the City boss revealed that Walker suffered his knock during the latest round of international games. The defender missed last weekend’s win over Wolverhampton Wanderers and, like De Bruyne, Guardiola said he does not know when Walker will be back.

“Kyle as well is not ready. He didn't come back well from the national team. [It’s a] knee problem,” said the City boss.

Walker and De Bruyne join Rodri and Oscar Bobb on the sidelines, although City were boosted by the return of Nathan Ake last time out.
