Erling Haaland needs just one goal to hold the outright record for the most goals scored in a 38-game Premier League season.
The Man City star has 32 goals in 28 games, along with five assists, to match the Premier League record held by Mohammed Salah which the Liverpool winger achieved on the final day of the 2017-18 campaign.
The most goals in a single Premier League season stands at 34 but that came in a 42-game campaign, however Haaland is just three goals away from breaking that record with eight league games remaining.
City take on Arsenal on Wednesday in a huge fixture at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night as Pep Guardiola’s side aim to retain the league title.
Haaland has broken numerous scoring records since arriving in Manchester and while he looks set to break another Premier League record, it remains to be seen if he can ever break Dixie Dean’s record of 60 goals in a top-flight season, as the ex-Everton man achieved the feat all the way back in 1927-28.
As Haaland closes in on another record, Manchester World looked at some of the best goal-scoring seasons from previous Premier League campaigns. Take a look...
