Manchester City transfer could accelerate with Ederson offer, says Fabrizio Romano
Manchester City are preparing for the start of the new Premier League season
Manchester City will be looking to challenge for the Premier League title next season. They fell short of Liverpool in the last campaign. Pep Guardiola will want his side to bounce back in style next time around.

City have the chance to bring in some more new faces this summer. It has been a busy spell on the recruitment front for the North West outfit so far. They also have the opportunity to let some players head out the exit door as well if needed.
Manchester City goalkeeper latest
City are ‘working’ on a deal to re-sign James Trafford from Burnley, according to reporter Fabrizio Romano on X. Their current number one Ederson is now facing an uncertain future at the Etihad Stadium. He is wanted by Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray.
In this latest update, journalist Romano has posted on social media: “Manchester City expect Galatasaray to approach with opening bid for Éderson soon. Talks already ongoing with the Brazilian goalkeeper while club to club negotiations are yet to start. Man City, working on James Trafford as new goalkeeper.”
Ederson, 31, is out of contract in June next year. Therefore, City risk losing him for nothing in 12 months if they don’t sell him now or in January. He has been with them since 2017 and has been a good servant. Prior to his move, he had spells at Rio Ave and Benfica in Portugal.
The Brazil international, who has 29 caps to his name, has made 372 appearances in all competitions so far for his current club. He played 40 matches last term under the guidance of Guardiola. However, it appears he may well be heading out the exit door for a new challenge in Turkey.
Manchester City eye James Trafford reunion
Trafford rose up through the academy at City after joining them as a youngster from Carlisle United. He was a regular for them at various different youth levels. However, the Cockermouth-born man never played for their first-team.
Instead, he was loaned out to Accrington Stanley and Bolton Wanderers to get some experience under his belt. He was then sold on a permanent basis to Burnley in 2023. The stopper has since played 73 matches for the Clarets altogether.
Following his switch to Turf Moor two years ago, he said: “I feel very happy to officially be a Burnley player, I was excited for it to all get done whilst the Euros was going on, I knew a lot about it and I was waiting to get back to make it all official really. I want to improve and learn as much as I can here and as a team, I just want to take it a day at a time and try and achieve as much as we can going forward.”
Meanwhile, their ex-manager Vincent Kompany added: "We’ve signed an extremely talented young man. More than just a talent he’s a great character. James is a very impressive, confident mature young man. Most people have seen what he’s achieved in his career so far and his level of talent.”
