The Italian club are based in Manchester for the next as part of their pre-season tour of England.

Manchester City’s sister club Palermo have unveiled their new 2024/25 away kit, which has been inspired by the city of Manchester.

Thousands of Italian immigrants - many of whom came from Sicily, where Palermo are based - moved to Manchester in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Indeed, so great was the influx of Italian migrants in that period, Ancoats was known as Little Italy due to the many hundreds who settled in that area of Manchester.

Serie B side Palermo joined the City Football Group (CFG) in July 2022 and are one of City’s 12 sister clubs. To mark the club and city’s connection to Manchester, Palermo's new away shirt has been unveiled in England to coincide with the club’s pre-season trip.

Palermo play Leicester City in a summer friendly on Friday night and also face Oxford City next week as part of their pre-season tour of the country. The Italian side are using City’s training facilities as their base during the stay, an opportunity fellow CFG clubs Girona, Bahia and Troyes have availed of in the past.

Explaining their new Puma kit design, Palermo said via a statement: “Accompanying the launch of the away kit is the second chapter of the video campaign ‘This is where I belong’, which celebrates the passion for the Rosanero colours as an ideal place in the world, where all fans can feel at home, even thousands of kilometres away from Palermo and even without being born in Palermo.

“After the first episode set in New York, ‘chapter 2’ is instead a love story between two English Palermo fans, who live their relationship in the streets of Manchester, in a continuous metaphorical reference to the pink and black colours.”

The promotional video can be viewed at the top of the page, while the unveiling images of the black away jersey were shot in Ancoats.
