Man City’s new strongest XI after Erling Haaland transfer ahead of fixtures release

Manchester City have acted swiftly to bolster their ranks ahead of the new Premier League season and will likely be looking at a new strongest XI when the new campaign swings into gear.

Manchester City were crowned Premier League champions for a second consecutive season last month, lifting the title by one point on the final day.

The Sky Blues narrowly pipped Liverpool to the trophy after coming back from 2-0 down against Aston Villa.

Pep Guardiola’s side have acted swiftly in their pursuit for fresh faces at the Etihad Stadium in order to try and secure a third title in as many campaigns with the signing of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

The latter has joined City on a five-year deal until the summer of 2027 after an impressive 18-months at Dortmund where he scored 86 goals in 89 games.

Haaland will become a Sky Blues’ player on July 1 and isn’t the only new player arriving to the club this summer with January signing Julian Alvarez set to join up with his new teammates ahead of pre-season.

The 2022-23 Premier League campaign will begin over the first weekend of August and the fixtures for the new season will be released at 9am on Thursday morning.

With that being said, let’s take a look at how a new City best XI could look based on their summer activity so far.

The Brazilian shot-stopper is likely to remain as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper next season with the 28-year-old being ever-present under Guardiola since his arrival in 2017.

With the departure of Fernandinho this summer, Walker becomes the club’s second-oldest player at the age of 32. Despite this, he has shown why he is still regarded as one of England’s and the Premier League most reliable right-backs and a key player for Pep next campaign.

The centre-back is regarded as one of the world’s best in the position when fit and has been a pivotal part to City’s success in past seasons - expect him to return to the starting XI when available.

Guardiola’s other trusted centre-back, Laporte and Dias have been the Catalan’s go-to partnership in this position and that isn’t likely to change next season.
