Manchester City could be without five players for Saturday’s Premier League game at the Etihad.

Pep Guardiola said Jack Grealish could be back for for Saturday’s Premier League encounter against Nottingham Forest.

Manchester City approach the clash with four injury concerns, but were buoyed by the return of Grealish to training on Wednesday. The England international last played for City on 27 August and has missed the last three games with a hamstring issue, as well as England’s double header over the recent international break.

Guardiola revealed on Friday that Grealish is back in contention once again: "Jack is coming back, training well and maybe for some minutes will be ready," he told reporters. The City boss also said Mateo Kovacic is nearing a return to the side, but is not expected to be back in time for the clash with Forest.

"Kova is almost ready, the last part of the recovery but now we lost Bernardo [Silva] for a few days and John [Stones], Kevin [De Bruyne] are still out."

Silva was replaced in the first half of Tuesday's Champions League win over Red Star Belgrade, and Guardiola said in his pre-match press conference that the no.20 is set to spend a short period on the sidelines. "[Silva is] a little injury, not much. I don't know, a week, two weeks," said the ex-Barcelona manager.

As for Forest, there are doubts surrounding the fitness of Serge Aurier, while Danilo has been ruled out by Steve Cooper. "Serge is closer than Danilo," said the Forest boss. "Danilo is going to be out for a few weeks yet. Serge is getting closer. It is one we are trying to push as hard as we can without taking any unnecessary risks, so we will see how that goes.

"There is nothing new from Monday," he added. "Felipe is still managing a knee situation. He is coming back to the group but it is something we are constantly having to manage."

Meanwhile, Willy Boly missed Monday night’s 1-1 draw away to Burnley through illness, but should be available for the trip to the Etihad this weekend. "He is back with us," explained Cooper. "He took a bit of a hit with the illness, which takes a little bit of recovery time. We are monitoring him daily, but he is back with the group.

That point at Turf Moor leaves Forest on seven points from five Premier League matches this season, while City have claimed maximum points and are top of the table at this early stage of the campaign.

Doubts: Aurier (Forest). Ruled out: Stones, Kovacic, Silva, De Bruyne (City), Felipe, Danilo (Forest).
