Manchester City have included 11 first-team players in their travelling squad.

Manchester City have announced their travelling squad for this summer’s US tour.

The Premier League champions face Celtic, AC Milan, Barcelona and Chelsea in the States, with the clash against Brendan Rodgers’ side next Wednesday the first game in that series.

City jetted off to America on Friday with the majority of the club’s main stars missing. Sixteen City players were involved at Euro 2024 and the Copa America, none of whom were part of the travelling party.

Of that 16, only Josko Gvardiol and Mateo Kovacic will meet up with the squad in America, due to Croatia’s early exit in Germany this summer. Those who made it to the knockout stages at Euro 2024 and the Copa America will be given additional time to recuperate ahead of another busy season.

It means there were only 11 first-team players who departed Manchester on Friday afternoon, with Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland the most high profile. Ederson also was part of the 27-man group, despite his future generating plenty of headlines this summer.

His fellow goalkeepers Stefan Ortega and Scott Carson were on the flight as well, along with Rico Lewis, Kalvin Phillips and Oscar Bobb. Fringe members of the senior team such as Joshua Wilson-Esbrand, James McAtee and Maximo Perrone have travelled with the team.
