The latest transfer news surrounding Manchester City, who have been linked with moves for three prominent players over the weekend.

With a little over a month until Manchester City’s 2024/25 campaign kicks off, there have still been no significant moves in the transfer market.

The new season begins with a trip to Wembley and a Community Shield clash against Manchester United on 10 August, eight days before their opening game of the new Premier League term comes away to Chelsea.

While there have been changes to the club’s coaching set-up, there have been no first-team additions or departures. That will change in the coming weeks, especially as Euro 2024 and the Copa America head towards their conclusions and clubs begin to return for pre-season.

With that in mind, here are the latest transfer rumours surrounding City, who have been linked with moves for three players over the weekend…

Man City enter the race for Neves

City are reportedly keen on signing Benfica youngster Joao Neves. The midfielder has been linked with a move to United this summer, although Bernardo Silva said ahead of Euro 2024 that he would encourage the youngster to join him at the Etihad.

As per Portuguese outlet O Jogo, Neves is ‘highly sought after’ with City putting him on a ‘priority list of targets’ if Kevin De Bruyne leaves the club.

No official offers have been tabled for Neves, who is also said to be a target for Paris Saint-Germain, although he could cost north of €100m (£84.6m).

‘Concrete moves’ for PSG midfielder

City have also been linked with another United midfield target. This time, it’s Manuel Ugarte, a player who there is strong interest in at Old Trafford.

Le10sport claim Barcelona and City have made ‘concrete moves’ for the 23-year-old, who is currently representing Uruguay at the Copa America.

A combative midfielder, Ugarte has started all four matches for his country this summer but made just 37 appearances for PSG last season.

City enter race for Gordon

City have reportedly ‘joined Liverpool’ in the race to sign Anthony Gordon. The Reds hold an interest in the Newcastle United winger, with reports claiming he has been disgruntled that a move to his boyhood club has been blocked by the Magpies.

Football Insider claim Pep Guardiola has targeted Gordon as a possible addition as he looks to ‘bolster his attacking options’. The ex-Everton forward could even be Jack Grealish’s replacement, if he were to move on this summer.
