Non-league club Ashton United have revealed they have ‘made an approach’ to take Manchester City star Erling Haaland on loan.
The Robins currently sit in eleventh place in the Northern Premier League Premier Division - but sit five points shy of the play-off spots after suffering a 2-0 defeat at Gainsborough Trinity on Saturday afternoon. After failing to score more than one goal in all but one of their last seven league games, manager Michael Clegg has made a move for the Norway star to solve his issues at the top end of the pitch.

City aren’t playing, and we want to help by keeping Erling fit, it makes more sense than him playing golf for six weeks. We think he will be a great fit for us, and would slot in with our squad dynamic really well.”
Ashton have revealed they are yet to receive a reply from the current Premier League champions. He would be unable to feature in this weekend’s home game against Bamber Bridge after a recent call-up to the Norway squad, so he would make his Robins debut in their visit to Lancaster City on Saturday week if Pep Guardiola takes them up on their unexpected offer for their star striker.
