Manchester City forward Hayley Raso is set to move to Spanish giants Real Madrid, according to a report from Marca.

The Australian is a popular figure with City fans but has struggled for game time this season and has been offered a route out of the club by Real Madrid head coach Alberto Toril. Raso, 28, has started just one league game for Gareth Taylor’s side this season and will see her current contract run out in the summer, with Real Madrid now her expected desination.

And now reports in Spain indicate that Real Madrid will look to offer a contract to Raso for next season as they aim to take the club to the next step in Liga F. It would be the second City player the club would pursuade to move to the continent after securing the signing of Caroline Weir last summer. The report from Marca claim that talks between the club and the 28-year-old Australian have already started and said they believe “everything indicates that an agreement is close” between the club and player.

Capped 62 times by Australia, Raso will turn 29 next year and surely sees this stage in her career as a pivotal one with a home World Cup on the horizon. At present, she is a regular in the Midtilda’s squad but, after playing only 235 minutes of football this season, she will surely looking for more regular football.

Whether or not Real will make a move sooner than the summer to allow her to do so though is currently unknown.
