Pep Guardiola is expected to name a strong team for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Leeds United.
The Manchester City manager hasn’t rotated a huge amount for league matches over recent weeks and has tended to select from a hardcore of 15 players. The policy has served the champions well, with City on a winning run of nine league matches.
The last of those games saw the champions record a 3-0 victory over West Ham United, on a night when Erling Haaland scored his 35th league of the season, setting a new record for a single campaign. Guardiola did deviate from his recent selection policy in that game when he rested goalkeeper Ederson and gave back-up Stefan Ortega a rare start. Nathan Ake also returned to the starting line-up following a recent injury and netted City’s opener against the Hammers.
The Blues only have one potential absence for the Leeds game with Kevin De Bruyne a doubt after missing the last two matches. The midfielder was seen in training on Thursday however, and Guardiola confirmed he could be involved again this weekend.
There’s also the prospect of facing Real Madrid in midweek, with City set to travel to the Spanish capital for the first leg of their Champions League semi-final. That could influence Guardiola’s team selection on Saturday, but he is also keeping a watchful eye on second-place Arsenal in the Premier League.
With all that in mind, here’s how we think City will set up for Saturday’s game...

9. RW: Riyad Mahrez
Might drop to the bench for the Real visit, meaning he is more likely to start on Saturday.

10. ST: Erling Haaland
The boyhood Leeds fan scored a brace when the sides met at Elland Road in December.

11. LW: Jack Grealish
One of City’s most in-form players over the last two months, although Grealish’s talents aren’t always appreciated by the raucous Leeds fans.
