Man City predicted XI to face Burnley - how Guardiola could line up with Atletico & Liverpool on the horizon
The Manchester City manager has plenty to think about as the final chapter of the 2021/22 season commences.
Manchester City begin the penultimate month of the season knowing their fate is still very much in their own hands regarding a possible treble.
The Sky Blues are fighting on three fronts, for the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League, and could still complete one of the greatest seasons in the history of English football.
The next few weeks will go a long way in determining whether City can lift silverware at the end of the season, with huge double headers against Atletico Madrid and Liverpool on the horizon.
But in the meantime, Pep Guardiola’s focus will very much be on the immediate challenge of a trip to Turf Moor.
Burnley have often given the Catalan a tough match since moving to England in 2016, but from his 14 meetings with the Clarets, Guardiola has never lost.
Another three points on Saturday could be vital if they hope to fend off the challenge of Liverpool, who might be top by the time City kick-off at 3pm, given the Reds host Watford at 12.30pm.
That’s why picking the right team for the Burnley fixture is so important, while also balancing the squad with such huge matches in the coming weeks.
But who will Guardiola select to start against the Clarets? We’ve had a go at guessing which XI he’ll go with at Turf Moor…

1. Ederson
Returned early from international duty due to illness, but was pictured in training this week and is expected to start.

2. Kyle Walker
Left out of the England squad by Gareth Southgate, so he should be fresh for the trip to Burnley, and eager to send a message to the Three Lions manager.

3. John Stones
Like Ederson, the defender came home early from international duty, but was pictured in training on Thursday. With Ruben Dias still out, the former Everton man will likely start.

4. Aymeric Laporte
Has missed just one of the last 14 league games and has established himself as a stalwart of Guardiola’s defence this season.
