Man City predicted XI gallery vs Sevilla: Seven changes expected with three injured

We’re tipping Pep Guardiola to make wholesale changes on Wednesday.

Pep Guardiola admitted he could hand minutes to several fringe players during Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Sevilla.

Manchester City face their final group game of the tournament knowing they have already secured top spot, while Sevilla will finish third regardless of the score at the Etihad. Therefore, it’s expected that both managers will name experimental line-ups.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Guardiola said: “I have to see the training session and see the players. But of course four days, the recovery is different to three. We played Brighton on Saturday and in Germany [against Dortmund] on Tuesday [last week]. The travelling is four days. Here it is different.

“But of course, the players who are not playing regularly are going to play. Let me see the training session and tomorrow I will see,” he added.

One of those who could come into the team is Cole Palmer, a player Guardiola was also asked about in Tuesday’s media briefing. “Yes [he is available]. He trained after the [Leicester] game and he trained really well. He doesn’t have to show me anything special.”

Palmer trained ahead of the game and is a likely candidate to start, as could Rico Lewis and Josh Esbrand-Wilson as well as the likes of Stefan Ortega Moreno and Sergio Gomez. Three youngsters, Jadel Katongo, Adedire Mebude and Carlos Borges, were also spotted in training ahead of the game and could be involved in some capacity against Sevilla. The trio are yet to make a senior appearance for the club.

Meanwhile, Kyle Walker, Kalvin Phillips and Erling Haaland won’t play for City, with the latter being rested for Saturday’s game against Fulham, a match Guardiola evidently views as a higher priority.

With all that in mind, here’s how we’re tipping the City boss to line up against Sevilla…
