The final predicted Premier League table for Man City, Aston Villa, Newcastle Utd and more - according to Opta
Manchester City gave their Champions League hopes a major boost on Tuesday night
Manchester City gave their hopes of securing a place in next season’s Champions League a major boost with a 3-1 win over Bournemouth on Tuesday night.

Following their FA Cup heartbreak at the hands of Crystal Palace, Pep Guardiola’s side were back in Premier League action as they look to secure a top-five finish. Victory over the Cherries moved them from sixth into third, two points above Newcastle United, Chelsea and Aston Villa who are all on 66 points. Nottingham Forest are three points behind City in seventh.
All five teams have a shot at finishing in the final three Champions League spots. City have the best goal difference out of all the sides, meaning a draw in their final game at Fulham is likely to be enough to clinch a place in the top five.
The game was Kevin de Bruyne’s final fixture at the Etihad Stadium as he prepares to leave the club at the end of the season.
Man City win on De Bruyn’e farewell to give Champions League hopes a major boost
City took the lead after 14 minutes through Omar Marmoush before Bernardo Silva doubled the lead on 38 minutes. Mateo Kovacic was sent off midway through the second half but City were only a man down for six minutes as Lewis Cook saw red for Bournemouth.
Nico Gonzalez added a third for City on 89 minutes before Daniel Jebbison added a consolation for the visitors in the sixth minute of stoppage time.
All the focus was on De Bruyne after the game, as he said: "Manchester is home, Manchester is where these little kids were born. I came here with my wife, Michelle, to stay for a long time, didn't expect to be here 10 years. To do what we've done as a club, supporters, teammates we've won everything. We made the city, the club bigger and now they're going to take over.
"I wanted to play with creativity, I wanted to play with passion. I wanted to enjoy football and I hope everyone enjoyed it. Everybody has pushed me so hard inside and outside the club to be the best version of myself and these guys, everybody we see on the screen and these guys in front of me have made me better than I was before. It's an honour to play with these guys. I've made so many friends for life. We'll be back for sure soon.”

In a crunch game at the City Ground, Chelsea face Nottingham Forest.
