Manchester City head to Serbia for their final match of the Champions League group stage.
The European champions have already secured their spot as first place in the group, so there is nothing riding on the dead rubber against Red Star Belgrade.
It will give Pep Guardiola the opportunity to make several changes in the midst of such a busy fixture schedule. The Blues face Crystal Palace on Saturday before jetting off to Saudi Arabia for the Club World Cup next week.
One change has already been confirmed ahead of Wednesday’s clash in Serbia, with Ederson not named in the travelling party and Stefan Ortega all but confirming he will start in the Brazilian’s place.
“I think so, yes,” the back-up goalkeeper replied in Tuesday’s pre-match press conference, when asked if he expected to start in Belgrade.
“I’m happy for every game I get here. Tomorrow could be the next chance to show my best version. First of all, we have a lot of quality in this team, every session is on a high level.”
Along with Ederson, the injured Jeremy Doku and Erling Haaland didn’t travel to Serbia and won’t be involved, but youngsters Max Alleyne, Mahamadou Susoho, True Grant and Micah Hamilton have been included by Guardiola.
With all that in mind, here’s how we expect City to line up on Wednesday…
1. GK: Stefan Ortega
All but confirmed he'll start for the European champions on Wednesday.
2. RB: Rico Lewis
No-one has started more games than Kyle Walker this season, so he could drop out and Lewis is the obvious replacement.
3. CB: Manuel Akanji
Ruben Dias is rarely rested and he could drop out, while John Stones is still building up his fitness after recovering from injury. That means Akanji might be selected.
4. CB: Josko Gvardiol
The youngest and freshest of City's centre-backs, the Croat is the most likely defender to start.
