Manchester City moved to within a point of the Premier League summit with a 1-0 win over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. Pep Guardiola's side have now gone 17 games unbeaten in all competitions as they continue to put pressure on league leaders Liverpool.
Phil Foden bagged City's only goal of the game on the south coast, getting himself on the end of Erling Haaland's parried effort to poke the visitors ahead. Haaland spurned a couple of golden chances to add his name to the scoresheet, Kovacic went close, too.
City didn't have it all their own way, though, and they were made to work for the three points they picked up, particularly in the second half as the home side turned up the pressure.
Ultimately, the home side didn't have enough to break down the Citizens, who now turn their attention to Tuesday's trip to face Luton Town in the fifth round of the FA Cup. However, the small matter of a Manchester derby awaits next weekend.
