Man City player ratings gallery: Erling Haaland stars as four players score 8/10 in 5-0 win over Copenhagen

Find out who impressed for Manchester City in Wednesday’s Champions League win.

Manchester City made it three wins from three in this season’s Champions League as they beat Copenhagen 5-0 on Wednesday night.

Erling Haaland inevitably netted the first two on the night and was replaced at the break, while a David Khocholava own-goal, a Riyad Mahrez penalty and Julian Alvarez’s late strike wrapped things up for Pep Guardiola’s side.

It took just seven minutes for Haaland to find the back of the net for City after Joao Cancelo’s pass into the box was placed perfectly for the No.9 to stride onto and smash into the back of the net with his right foot.

City dominated from then on, with Bernardo Silva hitting the post soon after, while Copenhagen goalkeeper Kamil Grabara was kept busy and he did well to keep out efforts from Ilkay Gundogan, Riyad Mahrez, Jack Grealish and a Haaland header.

But another save from Grabara resulted in City’s second goal, as his parry landed perfectly at the feet of Haaland, who just tapped it into an empty net on 33 minutes.

It was three soon after as Gomez’s shot went in via to defections, the latter coming off Khocholava for an own-goal.

It was a similar story after the break, with Marko Stamenic hauling down Aymeric Laporte in the box and giving referee Aleksandr Radius little option but to point to the spot. It was Mahrez who stood up and confidently stroked the ball home.

The second half became something of a non-event after changes from both sides and the three points wrapped up. But Alvarez got himself on the scoresheet late on when he finished just a few yards out after Mahrez’s pass across the box.
