Man City are preparing for a historic clash this weekend against rivals Man United as they aim to cement their place in the top four of the Premier League.
City won 2-0 against Leicester City in midweek thanks to goals from Jack Grealish, who scored his first since December 2023, and January signing Omar Marmoush, who is playing up front in place of Erling Haaland.

Based on recent injury news, City could be without up to five players against United on Sunday.
Manchester City current injury list
Firstly, Rodri remains out injured as he continues to recover from a major knee injury that he suffered in September against Arsenal. He is working to get back ahead of the Club World Cup this summer.
Nathan Ake will also miss the game against United with an ankle injury which is expected to keep him out until May, with a chance that he could be out for the remainder of the season.
City’s issues in defence continue as John Stones and Manuel Akanji are also out of the weekend’s game, as they both look at a return in early May at best. As previously mentioned, Haaland could miss up to seven weeks of action due to his injury, so he is looking to return in early May.

Oscar Bobb recently returned from his leg injury that he’d been dealing with since the start of the season. He is back fit and available, although he is still not quite at full-match fitness.
The Norwegian came on as a substitute in the 85th minute for Savinho to make his first Premier League appearance of the season after recovering from a broken leg. He was handed a standing ovation by the City faithful.
Pep Guardiola’s comments on City’s fitness
In his most recent press conference, Guardiola addressed Haaland’s injury by saying: “We don’t have another player with his skills or specific qualities we know that but we have to adapt. We will find a solution for the players that we have with different skills and qualities. We will find that.”
He also spoke on Rodri at the weekend, with the hope that the Spaniard can return before the Club World Cup. Guardiola said: “I don't know [if he will feature at the Club World Cup]... I wish, I hope. He's behaving really well [in training], but competition is different. We have to be sure he's fine... Then [we will see].”

The obvious piece missing is Haaland, however, in City’s last game against Leicester, Guardiola decided to play January signing Omar Marmoush up front and he performed well, netting their second goal.
In terms of all their injuries in defence, City will likely see a centre-back pairing of Ruben Dias and January signing Abdukodir Khusanov, who could prove worth the signing seeing as he is one of the remaining centre-backs available.
Man United’s injury concerns
City aren’t the only team with a lot of injury problems at the moment, as their rivals Man United have a lot of players out for Sunday’s game at Old Trafford.
They are missing Lisandro Martinez, Amad Diallo, Ayden Heaven, Jonny Evans and Luke Shaw, meaning that they are very short on defenders at the moment. Ruben Amorim was forced to play a trio of Leny Yoro, Matthijs De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui at the back in their last game against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.
