The latest transfer talk from the Etihad Stadium as Manchester City prepare for the summer transfer window.

Manchester City are reportedly facing a number of big decisions over their goalkeeper options during the summer transfer window.

The reigning Premier League champions have already handed a new one-year contract to veteran stopper Scott Carson as the former England international extends his stay at the Etihad Stadium into a fourth season. The 38-year-old will continue to play a supporting role to Stefan Ortega and current number one Ederson - although there speculation suggesting the latter could be allowed to leave City during the summer.

After joining City in a £34m deal from Benfica during the summer of 2017, the Brazil international has played an integral role in what is arguably the most successful era in the club’s history. Over the last seven seasons, Ederson has become a six-time Premier League champion, a four-time Carabao Cup winner, a two-time FA Cup winner and help City complete a historic treble with a 1-0 win against Inter Milan in the 2023 Champions League Final. The former Rio Ave keeper has also lifted the UEFA Super Cup, FIFA World Club Cup and Community Shield during his time at the Etihad.

However, there have been reports suggesting the 30-year-old is attracting interest from a number of Saudi Pro League clubs as he enters the final two years of his current City deal. Pep Guardiola is said to be keen to retain Ederson as part of his squad as he looks to guide the club to a fifth consecutive Premier League title - but there are reports suggesting City are making plans to find a replacement in case the stopper does depart before the start of next season.

Speaking via his Patreon account, The Sun’s Alan Nixon has reported City will look to move for AC Milan and France goalkeeper Mike Maignan if they are tempted into selling Ederson by a lucrative offer from the Gulf state. The former Lille star joined the Rossoneri during the summer of 2021 as a replacement for Italy number one Gianluigi Donnarumma and helped his new club become Serie A champions at the end of his first season at the San Siro. Maignan has also been named as the best goalkeeper in Italian football’s top tier in two of the last three seasons. Several clubs are believed to be keen on securing his signature but the report states City have viewed him as their number one choice to replace Ederson as they set out their contingency plans for the summer.
