The key duo did not travel with Pep Guardiola’s men for Friday night’s clash at Turf Moor.

Teenager Rico Lewis starts, presumably at left back, with Nathan Ake and Manuel AkanjI playing in the middle of the back four. Kyle Walker completes a much-changed backline. 

New big-money signing Joško Gvardiol is on the bench alongside fellow new boy Mateo Kovacic and Jack Grealish. Julian Alvarez and Phil Foden have been given the nod in the front three alongside Erling Haaland.  

James Trafford makes his Burnley debut in goal after his big-money move from the Etihad.
