Manchester City could wrap up the 2022/23 Premier League title if they beat Chelsea this weekend.
There’s even a chance that City could have secured a first-place finish before they play again, given an Arsenal loss to Nottingham Forest on Saturday would mean the Gunners would be unable to catch Pep Guardiola’s side.
This will be the Catalan’s fifth Premier League triumph and the club’s seventh overall, and there have been some suggestions that the 2022/23 edition could be Guardiola’s greatest City team yet. They may well end the season by becoming just the second-ever side to win the treble of the title, FA Cup and Champions League.
The introduction of Erling Haaland, while not always a seamless process, has seen City develop a ruthless scoring streak, especially given his partnership with Kevin De Bruyne. But players like John Stones, Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Jack Grealish have also shone for the would-be champions this term.
The 4-0 victory over Real Madrid just emphasised how perfectly honed Guardiola has got this City team, who combined penetrative, precise passing with driving runs and irrepressible work off the ball, to totally overwhelm the Champions League kings for 90 minutes.

1. Man City- 93 point (2021/22) - 6th=
Secured the title on the final day last season by beating Aston Villa with three goals in the last 15 minutes. The striker-less version of City amazed viewers but didn’t win any more trophies that term.
2. Chelsea- 93 points (2016/17) - 6th=
Antonio Conte’s side claimed top spot and set several records along the way, most of which have since been beaten by Guardiola.
3. Chelsea- 95 points (2004/05) - 5th
The ‘Special One’ rolled in at Chelsea and recorded the best-ever defensive record and most clean sheets in a single campaign as the West London club wrapped up the title in style. They also won the League Cup.
4. Liverpool- 97 points (2018/19) - 4th
Jurgen Klopp’s men incredibly didn’t win the title with this points tally, despite it being the fourth highest in the division’s history. Liverpool did, however, claim the Champions League a few weeks later.
