Haaland’s move to the Etihad Stadium will become official on July 1 after scoring an impressive 86 goals in 89 matches for Dortmund over an 18-month period.

Speaking to the club’s official website about his move, he said: “This is a proud day for me and my family.

“I have always watched City and have loved doing so in recent seasons. You can’t help but admire their style of play, it’s exciting and they create a lot of chances, which is perfect for a player like me.

“There are so many world-class players in this squad and Pep is one of the greatest managers of all-time, so I believe I am in the right place to fulfil my ambitions.

“I want to score goals, win trophies and improve as a footballer and I am confident I can do that here. This is a great move for me and I can’t wait to get started in pre-season.”

City jumped swiftly to seal the 21-year-old’s signature with Pep Guardiola’s side confirming they reached an agreement for Haaland last month.

The Sky Blues are believed to have activated the £51.1m release clause in his contract, beating the likes of Real Madrid to his services.

Haaland won’t be the first of his family to wear the blue of Manchester with his father Alf-Inge Haaland playing for the club between 2003 and 2003.

The forward’s arrival at the Etihad Stadium is an exciting one for their fanbase with Guardiola now expected to revert to a traditional number-9 next season.

Haaland won’t be the only forward joining the Premier League champions after they agreed to sign Julian Alvarez from River Plate in January.
