Manchester City have already agreed a fee to sign one of the brightest up and coming English talents, according to reports. City have placed plenty of emphasis on their academy over recent years, hoping to balance spending with a steady stream of young talent.

The fruits of that labour have been seen regularly of late, with Rico Lewis playing a key role for City this season, while Cole Palmer was sold for big money for Chelsea after playing a role last term. Though, City, like their rivals, are not always going to be able to produce all the best talent themselves, and there are times where they need to pluck top talent from other academies.

The latest example of that comes in the form of a deal with Leeds United that will see the Citizens break a British record. According to Football Insider, a £1.2million fee has been agreed with Leeds for the signing of Finley Gorman, a record for a 15-year-old.

Gorman was recognised as one of the brightest young talents at Elland Road, impressing for the Whites' youth sides, while he has also impressed for the England youth groups, regularly playing above his age group. Daniel Farke and others are said to have attempted to convince Gorman to stay in Yorkshire, but a deal has now been struck.

Leeds were unable to offer Gorman a professional contract due to his age, and they are essentially poweless in getting him to stay as a result. City have taken advantage of that, only needing to strike a deal over a compensation package with the Championship club, and it seems an agreement has now been reached.

Sane interest

Elsewhere, City are being linked with a move to bring back former winger Leroy Sane. According to BILD, City could rival Liverpool for the signing of the German, who they sold for £55million to Bayern Munich more than three years ago.

Liverpool have been heavily linked in recent weeks, but reports in Germany now suggest a possible return to the Etihad Stadium for Sane, who enjoyed a successful four-year spell witt he Citizens ahead of his 2020 departure.
