The latest Manchester City and Manchester United transfer news and rumours

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has expressed his delight with the club’s January business so far with more signings expected through the door before the window shuts. Moves for Vitor Reis and Abdukodir Khusanov have been confirmed while Omar Marmoush is set to be the next signing as the final touches get put on his proposed move from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Erling Haaland has also penned a new long-term deal with the club as City face a huge Champions League contest with Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night. Both clubs face the very real threat of elimination from the competition. PSG are outside the top 24 while City sit 22nd.

On the crunch tie, Guardiola said: “Both teams have two matches. Of course, it’s a really important games for us and PSG. We have another game against Brugge, and I don’t know how many points we need. Maybe one victory we will be there. We were punished against Feyenoord. More games in the most difficult moment of the season and we couldn’t handle it. It’s new for everyone. It’s a really important game for both of us but we have another game in few days. It’s new for everyone. It’s a really important game for both. We need six points maybe four maybe three. We will see.”

Man City to seal next signing

It was reported earlier this week that City were closing in on a deal for Juma Bah after a verbal agreement was reached with Valladolid. Now in a fresh update, Fabrizio Romano has reported that terms have been agreed with the player as City are keen to wrap the deal up quickly as they are expecting competition from Inter Milan and Fenerbahce for his signature. The 18-year-old centre-back is set to join RC Lens on loan once he completes a move to City. The French club need to bolster in central defence after Khusanov left for City.

On the arrival’s of Reis and Khusanov, Guardiola said: “They are young players, so they come for many years. Different types. Khusanov played here in France. He has extraordinary physicality and hopefully can learn English as soon as possible. Reis is a young Brazilian, very exciting. In the Champions League it is not possible that they play until if we have qualified for the last 16. In the Premier League they are able to play already.”

Man Utd make bid for Dorgu

Meanwhile, Manchester United have made a bid of around £23m plus add-ons for January target Patrick Dorgu, it has been reported. The Red Devils have enaged in talks with Serie A side Lecce over a move for the left-back but their bid has not been accepted as it falls around £10m short of the Italian club’s valuation. United face competition from Napoli for the player while Tottenham Hotspur have also been credited with an interest.

Romano posted on X overnight: “Manchester United formal bid for Patrick Dorgu was worth €27m plus add-ons, not enough to convince Lecce. Price tag around €40m package as Lecce are also aware of Napoli’s interest for the summer. Dorgu, keen on the move as more contacts are expected between clubs.”

Speaking to Sky Sports, Lecce president Sticchi Damiani said: “We met with Man United and we told them that our plan is to keep our key players, including Patrick Dorgu. We’re delighted to have Man United here to make a proposal but our target to stay in Serie A is crucial.”
