Rob Edwards’ side held the advantage for 44 minutes until Virgil van Dijk levelled proceedings shortly after the break. Goals from Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz and Harvey Elliott wrapped up the game to assert Liverpool’s dominance at the Premier League summit.
Anything other than a win would have handed the advantage to Man City and Arsenal. Both clubs have a game on hand, with the Gunners competing in the Champions League as Liverpool beat Luton.

Pep Guardiola’s men travel to Bournemouth while Arsenal host Newcastle United hoping to avenge their controversial defeat at St James’ Park earlier this season. City are set to take on both title rivals next month in fixtures that are crucial to the Premier League race.
