“Man City just opened them up for fun. May as well have been a tin opener.” Those were the words of one overjoyed Manchester City fan on Sunday evening, following his side’s 4-1 victory over Manchester United.
Despite that, United did have moments in the first half when they looked dangerous, and netted via Jadon Sancho in the 22nd minute after Kevin De Bruyne had put the hosts 1-0 up earlier on.
But the Red Devils could keep it level for long, with De Bruyne scoring again before the break, and in the second period City dominated.
Pep Guardiola’s men took control in terms of possession and shots, with United did not managing a single effort after the break.
So it was no surprise City’s fans were delighted when they were streaming out of the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
We sent our reporter Jessica Hay along to find out what they thought of the game, how they rate City’s title credentials and asked for their views on who stood out in the derby.
