‘I assume’ - Kevin De Bruyne provides biggest hint yet about his Man City future plans
Kevin De Bruyne has given an update on his future and implied he will remain at Manchester City this summer.
The midfielder, who turned 33 last week, has 12 months remaining on his contract at the Etihad and has been weighing up his options over recent months. De Bruyne admitted in an interview before Euro 2024 that he and his family were discussing their next steps, with the allure of Saudi Arabian wages evidently on his mind.

“If I play there [Saudi Arabia] for two years, I will be able to earn an incredible amount of money. Before that I had to play football for 15 years. I may not even reach that amount yet.”
But speaking in a separate interview with the same outlet ahead of Belgium’s Euro 2024 clash against France, De Bruyne said he will return to City after the tournament.
“I’ll have a quiet summer. I’ll enjoy my holidays and will return to Man City afterwards. I assume there will be talks with Man City in the upcoming months.”

Hide AdManchesterWorld reported last week that De Bruyne remaining at City looks the most likely option at this stage, although both the club and player are said to be relaxed about the situation. After nine years in Manchester, there’s a sense that both parties will come to an amicable arrangement that suits everyone.
Meanwhile, De Bruyne is set to captain Belgium in Monday’s knockout tie on the back of growing discontent among the country’s fanbase. The squad were booed by their own fans after drawing 0-0 with Ukraine in their last game, a point that saw them finish second in the group. De Bruyne, whose named was also jeered when he was announced as player of the match, then instructed his team-mates to leave the pitch rather than clap the supporters.
