Jurgen Klopp confirms major Liverpool injury issues amid title race with Man City

Jurgen Klopp has provided an injury update amid Liverpool's title battle with Manchester City.

Jurgen Klopp has been speaking about Liverpool's injury issues amid the ongoing title chase with Arsenal and Manchester City. The title race is set up to be a fascinating one this season, with three teams in the hunt at this point.

Liverpool lead the way, but Arsenal are only two points behind, while City are four points worse off with a game in hand over both of the teams above them. The Reds have looked particularly strong this season, but their injury issues are starting to add up, with Diogo Jota joining the list with a serious-looking knee injury over the weekend.

Asked about injuries ahead of a mid-week clash with Luton Town, Klopp responded: "Not great, I would like to say there are no issues, but we have some. Not available, there is Alisson, a muscle injury, I'm not sure how long. Diogo, a knee issue and he is ruled out. Curtis, a bone or ligament issue, he is ruled out; others - we think we will deal with it day by day.

"Muscle issues, we will see. If you see the lineup early enough you will see who did and who didn't make it. That's it. Trent, Szoboszlai are on their way back not in team training yet, so not available yet. That is the situation. What I said after the game, if we have 11 we will go for it and that is the idea."

Speaking about Jota specifically, Klopp added: "With Diogo it will take about months (not weeks). I couldn't say a timeframe even if I wanted to. That is just how it is. When you don't have these players it makes no sense [to speculate]."

While the injuries could cause issues for Liverpool, Klopp is confident the players he does have available will continue to carry his side through. "If you use the boys you know what you can do," he added. "We don't see it like that [with injuries] when we had both left-backs out, we found a solution that worked.

"We didn't have a number six before the season started, but we sorted that. As long as we have a training session [before games] it is fine because everyone is good on the ball. Yes, we had to be flexible but it was more fun than a problem to be honest. We have a situation now where it would be better when we had no injuries but, at the moment, when you have the news, you just deal with it and we have no excuses.

"We will go for it. There are 5,000 ways to win a game and we just have to find one. Especially at home where we generate a dynamic where some players can grow above themselves and be the best version of themselves."
