Pep Guardiola has given an update on the futures of Julian Alvarez and Kevin De Bruyne.

The Manchester City duo have both been linked with exits from the Etihad this summer, with Alvarez reportedly attracting interest from Atletico Madrid and De Bruyne admitted he is tempted by the possibility of a move to Saudi Arabia.

The former has also spoken about his thoughts on a possible departure in the transfer window and said earlier this week that he was frustrated to be left out of big games, and will think about his future after the Olympic Games.

Ahead of City’s pre-season clash against Barcelona, Guardiola responded to those comments and encouraged Alvarez to consider his options. “He said he'd think about it. When he finished thinking about it, his agent is going to call Txiki [Begiristain, City director of football] and we see what happens," the City manager said.

"I know he wants to play important moments, yeah. But the other ones [do] too - 18, 19 players as well want to play the big games. I read he wants to think about it. Okay, think about it and after that he will inform us what he wants to do.”

"He plays a lot, he wants more? That's fine. That why, think about it. When he thinks about it he'll inform us."

As for De Bruyne, the Belgian looks set to stay at City and enter the final year of his contract, with a move to the Saudi Pro League a possibility in a year’s time. The 33-year-old had reportedly been in talks about a potential transfer this summer, but Guardiola expects him to remain in Manchester.

“The club inform me that they didn't get an offer," said the Catalan. "To leave, needs an offer. I don't know what is going happen but I'd love for him to stay.

“Like what happen with David [Silva] and the other players. He earned the credit to decide his future for himself. For what he has done for this club is massive. That's why he has to decide. The info I have right now he is going to stay.”
