Manchester City’s squad were the latest unsuspecting group to be pranked by comedian Milo McCabe’s character Troy Hawke, who welcomes guests upon arrival as part of his Greeters Guild facade.

Hawke has earned a reputation for his peculiar and hilarious greetings outside venus such as Primark, Whetherspoons or TK Maxx, all of which are caught on camera.

But it was the turn of City’s players over the weekend, whose reactions were secretly filmed upon arrival at the club’s training base ahead of their flight to the USA for pre-season tour.

Among the best reactions were Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland. The latter barely reacted to being called a ‘tremendous Nordic meat shield’, while Grealish seemed very confused after being informed he had a ‘fabulously symmetrical face’.

“Did he say anything to you, that guy?” a perplexed Grealish was seen asking team-mates a few moments later.

Among the other standout moments was Hawke’s assessment that Nathan Ake had ‘the poise of an apex predator, but the eyes of a kindly woodland creature’. “It’s a devastating combination,” he added.

“Who’s more the pep talker: the pep talker, or the pep talker who gives Pep a pep talk?” Hawke asked Pep Guardiola upon arrival, while the impressionist told new summer signing Kalvin Phillips he was ‘a master of hydration’ due to his ‘fabulous skin’.

Reactions from the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Joao Cancelo, Ruben Dias and Cole Palmer were also filmed. You can watch the whole video above.

City face Club America and Bayern Munich as part of their US tour, before heading back to England and facing Liverpool in the Community Shield on 30 July.
