In pictures: Erling Haaland has scored as many Premier League hat-tricks as these 9 legends

The Manchester City forward netted another treble in Sunday’s derby win.

Erling Haaland scored yet another Premier League hat-trick this weekend as Manchester City beat Manchester United 6-3 on Sunday.

The Norwegian has now bagged a treble of trebles since moving from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, and he’s also become the first player to score hat-tricks in three home consecutive Premier League matches.

The striker netted three in the comeback win against Crystal Palace at the start of the September and in the 6-0 drubbing of Nottingham Forest four days later.

His goals against United were three very different types of finishes, with the first coming via a powerful header, the second was converted after sliding in at the back post, while the final was a curled first-time finish from a Sergio Gomez pass.

Haaland has also become the fastest player to reach three hat-tricks in Premier League history. Michael Owen previously boasted that feat, something he achieved in 48 matches, but Haaland has now reached that milestone after just eight games.

He’s also the first player to score a hat-trick for City in a Manchester derby in 52 years, although Phil Foden did manage the same achievement just nine minutes later

Prior to Haaland’s performance on Sunday, the last City player to net three in a single game against United was Francis Lee in a 4-1 win in 1970.

His scoring exploits in the derby bring Haaland up to 17 goals from 11 appearances for City and he’s netted in seven of his eight league games this term.

From those eight matches, the 22-year-old has already scored more Premier League hat-tricks than Eric Cantona, Denis Bergkamp, Sadio Mane and Steven Gerrard.

He’s also tied level with these nine legends from the English top flight, and it’s a safe assumption Haaland could climb the hat-trick charts by the end of the season.
